The 2025 national marathon racing season kicked off last weekend, as several pigeon racing provinces across the country hosted their first events in this prestigious category. These national competitions always attract special attention, both due to the prestige and competitiveness involved, and because they are open to fanciers from any county, regardless of local protocols or flight plans.
A Strong Start in the Western Province –
Among the pigeon fanciers from the Suceava Branch — a branch that has 852 active fanciers for the 2025 season — we now also find the team “Iacob Gabi & Costică.” This is their debut season as a team. However, their performance in the competitions held so far has been very good, with the potential to become truly outstanding.

This is the second consecutive year that the majority of pigeon fanciers from the Oltenia Province have been competing along the Bulgaria-Greece route. Unlike the 2024 season, this year Oltenia fanciers competed together starting from the very first marathon stage, with the release taking place in the town of Pyrgos (Greece).
