In 2019, I decided to settle in the southern part of the Netherlands, in the locality of Zevenhoven. In this context, I became a member of Afdeling 5, one of the most prestigious and extensive pigeon racing organizations in the country. Membership in this club provided me with the opportunity to collaborate with numerous internationally renowned pigeon breeders and to actively participate in high-level competitions conducted according to the highest sporting standards. Among the prominent figures with whom I interacted are Comb. Verwij de Haan, Paul van den Boogaard, Comb. Baas & Berg, Vincent Vork, Mario de Vogel, as well as other elite breeders.
A particularly important role in the development of my breeding loft was played by Michel Verwij, one of my closest collaborators, from whom I acquired the majority of my foundation breeding pigeons. Upon his recommendation, I was appointed as a member of the prize-awarding committee for both Southern and Northern Netherlands within the competitions organized under the ZLU championship, representing a recognition of my involvement and expertise in the field.
The year 2021 marked one of the most notable achievements of my pigeon racing career, namely an 11th place at national level in the NPO St. Vincent race, one of the most demanding long-distance competitions. In the same event, my club colleague Paul van den Boogaard secured 1st place at national level, further confirming the high competitive standard of our club.
The results achieved in 2022 demonstrate the continuity and consistency of my performances at both national and international level. Among the most significant achievements are:
-
6th place in the European ranking of the best hen pigeons, according to the PIPA Ranking 2022;
-
2nd place at national level and 3rd place at international ZLU level in the yearling category at Perpignan 2022;
-
13th and 14th places at national level in the cumulative rankings of the Dutch marathon races;
-
14th place at national ZLU level at Perpignan 2022;
-
17th place at international level in the hen category at Perpignan 2022;
-
notable national and international rankings in the ZLU races Perpignan, Pau, Barcelona and Tarbes (St. Vincent), achieved in highly competitive fields with thousands of participating pigeons.
Through these results, I have demonstrated a sustained commitment to refining selection, breeding and training methods for marathon racing pigeons. In particular, the 11th national place achieved in 2021 in the NPO St. Vincent race highlights my firm dedication to sporting excellence and professional rigor in pigeon racing.
One year prior to Laurențiu’s relocation to a new residence—which temporarily limited competitive participation—the ZLU results achieved were highly promising. These include 6th place in the European ranking of the best As hens according to PIPA, as well as strong national and international placements in the Perpignan, Pau and St. Vincent races, all conducted with a significant number of participants.
These achievements reflect not only the sustained effort and strategic approach applied to pigeon racing, but also the value of long-term collaborations with elite breeders from the Netherlands and across Europe, contributing to the consolidation of a solid and internationally recognized sporting career.
