Here Are the Winners of the Medynai National 2025 Race

For the third consecutive season, the counties of Brăila, Galați, Vrancea, Buzău, Călărași, Ialomița, Tulcea, and Constanța form the Southeast pigeon racing province, with their own protocols and national races. One of the most important competitions in this part of the country is the Medynai National, whose 2025 edition took place starting on July 12.

Pigeons had to fly between 950 and 1,150 km in the Medynai National 2025 stage, with the release point located in Lithuania. The stage was carried out under excellent conditions thanks to the involvement of the Buzău Branch members as organizers. A total of 391 pigeon fanciers from the mentioned counties participated, entering a total of 5,330 pigeons. They were released at 06:00.

Dumitru Neghină Wins the Race at a Distance of 1,151 km

Some pigeons arrived as early as the evening of the first race day, but given the large number of birds and the long distances involved — along with the neutralization period and the ability of some pigeons to fly even at night — it was expected that the final rankings would take shape only on the second day of the race. Some night arrivals provided the first hints, and it didn’t take long before the standings changed.

Among the top arrivals was a female raced by pigeon fancier Dumitru Neghină from Cobadin, Constanța County. With ring number RO-2023-0459416, she arrived at 05:09:48 — within the neutralization time — and took first place in the provisional rankings. This result became official, as no other pigeon managed to surpass her.

This was the very first marathon race for this outstanding bird, and she was raced in natural condition, with chicks around 12–13 days old at the time of basketing.

The Roșca Ștefan & Cristinel Team Wins 1st Place in the Fanciers' Ranking

The "Roșca Ștefan & Cristinel" team is made up of father Ștefan and son Cristinel Roșca, from Valea Nucului, Buzău County. They entered a team of 25 naturally raced pigeons in the Medynai National, where their distance was 1,002 km. The two fanciers managed to secure 1st place in the overall fanciers' ranking.

The arrival sequence started with the female RO-2023-1016969, who returned just before midnight at 23:54:46 (20th place overall). She was followed by another female, RO-2023-0515384, who also arrived during the neutralization period at 02:22:12. This second female, also entered as part of the team, took 21st place. A third bird, again a female and also part of the team, arrived at 05:23:39, placing 50th overall. These team birds earned a total coefficient of 13.31 penalty points.
