Pure marathon genetics, built through more than three decades of authentic selection
In marathon pigeon racing, there are lofts that do not impress through numbers, but through consistency, durability, and results achieved year after year on Europe’s toughest routes. Piet Boyen & Daughter represents exactly this school of excellence: a limited but extremely valuable colony, shaped by uncompromising selection and a clear genetic vision, passed down from generation to generation.
Operating under the name Piet Boyen & Daughter since 2002 at the parental loft in Nuth, Piet Boyen continues a tradition initiated by his father. After a period of independent competition in Schimmert, focused exclusively on extreme marathon races, a legendary father–son partnership followed, resulting in repeated top rankings in the national Fondspiegel classifications, culminating in 1st place during the period 1996–1998. Out of respect for his father, who passed away in 2002, Piet retained the loft’s name and transformed it into a benchmark of Dutch marathon racing.

Solid genetic foundation – proven “old blood”
The foundations of the loft were laid as early as 1982–1983, with pigeons from Gradje Roeffen (Wanroy blood, Jeu Vervuurt). From this line came the famous “Goeie 03”, a cock with 15 marathon prizes, great-grandfather of the legendary “Rode Teletekst”.
The decisive moment in the genetic build-up came in 1986, with the introduction of the famous pair from Adriaan van der Wegen:
Groenoger × Klein Grijs – the true cornerstone of the Boyen colony.
Descendants of this pair achieved national and international rankings for three generations on the key races of European marathon racing: Barcelona, Pau, Dax, Narbonne, Perpignan, Bordeaux, Marseille, and many others.
NL13-1526998 “Rode Teletekst” – the ultimate symbol of Dutch marathon racing
The pinnacle of this breeding program is the extraordinary hen “Rode Teletekst”, crowned:
Best Marathon Hen of the Netherlands – PIPA Ranking (3 prizes)
(Author: Jack van Eck – February 24, 2018)
This title was won convincingly through the following performances:
-
1st Dax – 1,369 pigeons
-
23rd Bergerac – 21,204 pigeons
-
18th Saint Vincent – 13,240 pigeons
In the 2017 season, “Rode Teletekst” excelled with three national Top 25 rankings:
-
10th National Saint Vincent – 6,228 pigeons
-
7th National Dax – 4,788 pigeons
-
21st National Bergerac – 8,170 pigeons
Results that earned her the titles:
-
National Marathon Champion (NPO)
-
National WHZB Champion – long distance
-
Best Marathon Hen of the Netherlands – PIPA Ranking
Beyond the numbers, her story also carries a deep human dimension: at her final race, Bergerac, during an extremely difficult time for the family, although the breeder was not present at the arrival, “Rode Teletekst” waited calmly on the landing board — a gesture that confirmed not only her sporting class, but also the balance, character, and exceptional loyalty of this remarkable hen.
