Adri van der Bijl Jr., from Woerden, the Netherlands, is a respected fancier known for his results in long-distance and marathon racing. Raised in a family with a strong pigeon racing tradition, he has competed under his own name since 1986, gradually developing a loft built on endurance, vitality and performance over distances exceeding 900–1,000 km.

His approach is characterised by simplicity, discipline and rigorous selection. He keeps a relatively small team, believing that genetic quality and the calibre of the pigeons matter more than their numbers. His pigeon family is based on his own bloodlines, strengthened through crosses with birds from renowned Dutch fanciers such as Theo Streefkerk, Tim Hage and Ros.

A defining moment came in 2013, when his cock “Lex” won 1st National Narbonne against 4,508 pigeons. This achievement confirmed the quality of the Van der Bijl loft and brought him international recognition.

Adri pays particular attention to his pigeons’ health, working closely with veterinarian Hans van der Sluijs and administering treatments only when necessary. His philosophy combines valuable genetics, good health, consistent preparation and uncompromising selection.
