His involvement went beyond competition, extending into the administrative side of the sport, where he served for almost 12 years as a county-level president.
He experienced the taste of major success as early as 1994, when Vasile Muntean became National Champion in Speed and Middle Distance. In the years that followed, his record of achievements was further enriched with another national title, this time in the National Ace category, confirming the consistent quality of his racing team and the effectiveness of his selection methods.
The expansion of his pigeon racing activities beyond Romania’s borders gave him access to exceptionally valuable bloodlines and families. By acquiring top-quality pigeons, his breeding loft was strengthened with birds originating from established lines of renowned breeders such as Thomas Peeters, Raymund Hermes, Maurice Delbar, Wegen, Kuypers, Kipp & Sons, Lessmeister, E. Denys, Mathijs Desmet, W. Emser, A+L van der Wegen, Van Loon, Janssen, and Jan Theelen.
With a comprehensive approach to the sport and the ability to achieve outstanding results over distances ranging from 100 to 1,000 km, Vasile Muntean has established himself as a prominent figure in pigeon racing, particularly through his performances in long-distance and marathon competitions held in Transylvania.
The experience accumulated over several decades, combined with his skills as a pigeon breeder, rigorous selection methods and, above all, the exceptional genetic quality of his pigeons, has contributed to the development of a family capable of excelling both in competition and in breeding. His results and the quality of his breeding stock have earned him recognition from fanciers throughout Romania and beyond its borders, making the name Vasile Muntean a reference point in Romanian pigeon racing.
