My name is Claudiu Roman, I am from Sibiu, and I have had a special passion for animals, especially racing pigeons, since I was little. My first contact with pigeons was when I was 4-5 years old, and I was with my parents in Iran.
Later, at the age of 12-13 in 1987, when we moved to a house, together with my brother, we bought pigeons from Colonel Rosetti. I joined the Columbophile Association in Sibiu and started participating in pigeon competitions. Later on, I brought pigeons from Florin Voinea, Saratian Liviu, Micu Anastasie (Sica), and Rau Precup, who taught me some secrets of raising racing pigeons.
The first results appeared in 1990 when, in the pigeon competitions, I had the best pigeon in Sibiu, a female 224658/90. In 1992, the same female became the first in Sibiu with 10 rankings, and the female 224669/90 won three consecutive 1st places in Tatabania (480km), Sopron (624km), and again Tatabania. In 1994, I won the 1st place in breeder fond in Sibiu for the first time. In 1995 and 1996, the pigeon 418853/91 participated in the National Exhibitions in Sibiu, ranking 3rd nationally in fond and 10th overall. In 1998, since I moved away from home and started a business, I left the pigeons in the care of my father, and later I gave them to a friend.
The love for pigeons persisted, and in 2006, I managed to build an apartment building, and on the 6th floor, I built a new loft of approximately 100 square meters. I bought around 450 chicks from 4 renowned breeders, namely Cosmin Olteanu, Andrei Marius, Muntean Vasile, and Saratian Liviu, to whom I want to express my gratitude. At the same time, aiming for quality and performance, I bought from a good friend, Silviu Tatut, a high-performance timing system, namely a Benzing M 1 clock, which I believe is currently the most advanced and reliable timing system.
The new strong beginning was auspicious, and due to the brought pigeons and my ambition, I debuted triumphantly in the pigeon flights in 2006. I won 3 out of 5 competitions for pigeons and 4 out of 5 for breeders. When consolidating the results, I had the first 15 places in the pigeon norms in Sibiu County and the 1st place for breeders. The female 9044/06 succeeded in the first 4 competitions, ranking 8th, 2nd, 1st, and 1st in Sibiu, occupying the 2nd place in Sibiu for pigeons, with the 1st place being won by 11002/06.
In November 2006, I imported the first pigeons from Belgium, bringing pigeons from Frederick Philippe, Louis Van Loon, Marcel Caro, Engels Brothers, Jan Grondelaers, Verbruggen Gommaire. In January 2007, I brought other pigeons from Marc Verschelde and Emiel Denis, directly from Adonis Barcelona, Schumi, Donkere Pau, Kleine TEE, Montjuich, Adonis, ST.Vincent, Dimas, Pantani, and a good sister with Miss Televie. The year 2007 was a good one for mature flights organized by the Sibiu branch. I obtained 5 first places for breeders and 4 first individual places. In the national flight fond Brno, I managed to mark the first pigeon (495098/06), winning the 1st place nationally in the western area (Alba, Sibiu, Mures, Bistrita, Cluj, Covasna, and Harghita). In the fall of 2007, the flights with chicks brought other satisfactions, winning 3 out of the 6 stages for individuals and 3 out of 6 stages for breeders. Pigeons 9033/06, 11029/06, 9408/07, and 9420/07 (daughter of KLEINE FANTAST and 9044/06) achieved notable results. The consolidations in 2007 brought new joys through the 1st place for speed breeders and the 2nd place for demifond breeders in Sibiu, as well as the 1st place for speed youth with 9033/06 and the 2nd place for demifond with 11029/06 in Sibiu.
Knowing that only valuable acquisitions can bring results worth mentioning, and with the ambition to acquire first-class pigeons, in December 2007, I visited two other internationally renowned breeding lofts for long-distance and marathon flights, namely George Carteus and Nouwen-Paesen, and bought and ordered some pigeons. Thus, I acquired 12 pigeons from George Carteus, including sons or daughters of Super AS (1 ACE Pigeon Fond Ent.Belge 2003), the son of the famous Limoges, De Fantast 200, nephew of Limoges, De 700 (Blauwe 700), the good brother of Millennium Perpignan (1 nat Perpignan 2000), also the son of Limoges, the good sister of George, who became famous at Brockamp, where she became the mother of Euro Diamond and Mistral, 1st and 2nd place in the marathon at the Oostende 2007 Olympics, and from half-brothers George and direct sons of Limoges. The year 2008 was again a good year and rewarded me abundantly for the work I have been putting in since 2006, spending 5-6 hours each day on my winged darlings. In my work, I was supported by my wife Anca, who understands my passion and is by my side. I managed to win 5 first places, one second place, and two third places in the breeders' category. Individually, I achieved 6 first places, 7 second places, and 8 third places in the speed, demifond, and fond stages.
