My name is Claudiu Roman, I am from Sibiu, and from a young age, I have had a special passion for animals, especially racing pigeons. My first encounter with pigeons occurred when I was 4-5 years old, during a trip to Iran with my parents.
At the age of 12-13, in 1987, when we moved to a house, my brother and I acquired pigeons from Colonel Rosetti. I joined the Sibiu Columbophile Association and started participating in pigeon competitions. Later on, I brought pigeons from breeders such as Florin Voinea, Saratian Liviu, Micu Anastasie (Sica), and Rau Precup, who taught me the secrets of raising racing pigeons.
The first notable results appeared in 1990 when, in the pigeon chick competitions, I had the best pigeon in Sibiu, a female with the number 224658/90. In 1992, the same female became the first in Sibiu, with 10 placements. In 1994, I won the first place in breeder's fond on Sibiu. In the following years, I continued to achieve remarkable results, including at national exhibitions in Sibiu.
In 1998, I had to move away from home and focus on business, leaving the pigeons in the care of my father, and later on, I handed them over to a friend.
The love for pigeons persisted, and in 2006, I managed to build a block, and on the 6th floor, I set up a new loft covering an area of approximately 100 square meters. I purchased around 450 chicks from renowned breeders such as Cosmin Olteanu, Andrei Marius, Muntean Vasile, and Saratian Liviu.
Keeping an eye on quality and performance, I bought a high-performance timing system from a friend, Silviu Tatut, namely a Benzing M1 clock, which I believe was the most advanced and reliable timing system at that time.
The new beginning proved to be auspicious, and due to the pigeons I acquired and my determination, I achieved remarkable results in the 2006 pigeon flights. I continued to bring pigeons from Belgium, contributing to the improvement of my loft's quality. In 2007, I achieved notable results in the mature pigeon flights organized by the Sibiu branch, including the first place in the national fond Brno flight.
Continuing to invest in high-quality pigeons, in December 2007, I visited internationally renowned breeders such as George Carteus and Nouwen-Paesen, acquiring and ordering some outstanding pigeons.
The year 2008 was again a good one, with remarkable results obtained in breeder and individual competitions. This success was the result of daily efforts for several hours, supported by my wife, Anca, who understands and shares this passion with me.
