Popescu Irinel, aged 49, originally from the village of Piștești din Deal, Gorj County, is an active member of the “Constantin Brâncuși” Pigeon Fanciers Club in Târgu Jiu, affiliated with Columba. His loft houses approximately 180 pigeons, of which 70–80 are trained for competitive racing, while the rest form the breeding nucleus.

Within his lofts can be found pigeons descending from elite bloodlines, acquired from renowned fanciers both in Romania and abroad. His collaborations include distinguished members of the Professional Pigeon Fanciers Union of Romania (UCPR) and the National Federation of Pigeon Fanciers of Romania (FNCPR). Among the valuable sources of genetic material are esteemed breeders such as Cristea Sorin, Deftu Robert, Cazacu Alexandru, Botnar Ștefan, Vochin George, Tănase Ionuț, Vartolomei Florin, Melinche Iulian, Chelaru Cristinel, Bogdan Sorin, Fr. Ungureanu, Moldovan Teofil Ioan, Cătălin Antofie, Postelnicu Mihai, as well as the Bodor Family, laureates of international pigeon Olympiads.
