András Makó is recognized as one of the leading figures in both Cluj and national pigeon racing, having distinguished himself from the very beginning as an exceptional competitor, particularly in short-distance races.
His involvement in pigeon racing began in 2014, when he joined Club Olimpia 04, later continuing his activity within Club Someșeni, under the names Mako Racing Team and Mako Racing Team 2, where he remains active to this day.
Makó’s notable success is largely attributed to his strategic investments in elite genetic material acquired from some of Europe’s most respected breeders, most notably Hans Eijerkamp. These acquisitions have significantly strengthened his reputation, both nationally and internationally, as reflected in his impressive achievements at competitions such as the Transilvania OLR Pigeon Race, where he achieved second place in the AS category, and the IGHIȘ OLR (2025), where he recorded outstanding results:

1st place in Hot Spot 115 km and 1st place in the Derby Extra Final 500 km, with the same pigeon;

22nd place in the Derby Extra Final 500 km, with a second pigeon;

19th place in the Final 410 km, with a third pigeon.
In parallel, to optimize the performance of his breeding section, András Makó has introduced valuable specimens from world-renowned breeders such as Pipa Breeding, Dehon-Demonseau, Luc Vervoort, Rene Vervoort, Rudy van Reeth, and Martin Huijsmans.
Through this meticulous strategy of selection and genetic improvement, András Makó has consolidated his position as a benchmark of contemporary Romanian pigeon racing, contributing significantly to the advancement of the sport both nationally and internationally.
