Claudiu Loghin, a pigeon fancier from Iași County, has emerged in recent years as one of the remarkable figures of Romanian pigeon racing, distinguished by perseverance, strategic clarity, and inspired investments in elite genetic material. His journey was not an easy one: the early stages of his career were marked by modest results and seasons with few classifications. Fully aware that true performance in such a demanding sport requires vision, courage, and adaptability, Claudiu Loghin made the bold decision to completely renew his loft and build a new team dedicated to marathon and extreme-distance races — competition areas where he felt he could truly excel. At the heart of his new breeding base stands the foundational male “Alfa”, originally from Menne und Tochter, son of the renowned “Kalle”, a pigeon known for its endurance even in the legendary Barcelona Palmares race. On the maternal side, the pigeons come from the famous Gerard Van Tuyl loft, descending from the celebrated lines “Blauwe Ster” and “Theodoros”, well known for their consistency, resilience, and remarkable capacity for rapid recovery after long flights. These choices were not made by chance, but rather as the result of meticulous research and a clear orientation toward genuine genetic quality.
The 2024 racing season fully confirmed the value of his work. The hen 191670-2023 covered a total of 3,573 km in four marathon and extreme stages, achieving the lowest penalty score nationwide and winning the prestigious “Vasiliu Mihai” Trophy — a performance that crowns the sporting and managerial maturity of the fancier from Iași.
What defines Claudiu Loghin above all is consistency, methodological simplicity, and a refusal to complicate his system unnecessarily.
