Pigeon Racing Season 2021 – The Year of Cosmin Olteanu’s Recognition
The 2021 season marked the spectacular comeback of pigeon fancier Cosmin Olteanu from Urlați, Prahova County. After several years of notable achievements, he once again managed to dominate the national pigeon racing scene. During this season, he distinguished himself across multiple categories, particularly in Young Birds Speed and Young Birds Middle Distance.
His two hens, RO-20-0020655 and RO-20-0020011, achieved first and second place nationally both in the Young Birds Speed and Young Birds Middle Distance categories — a rare accomplishment and clear proof of the consistency and genetic quality of his pigeons. In total, Cosmin Olteanu won six national trophies, three of which were first-place titles, all earned with these two outstanding birds.
The national champion RO-20-0020655 recorded a penalty coefficient of 3.67 points, while the vice-champion RO-20-0020011 achieved 4.59 points. Both hens competed as widows, demonstrating exceptional endurance and adaptability throughout the season.
The origins of these remarkable performances are no coincidence: the champion hen descends from a Rudy Van Reeth cock and a Jos Cools hen, while the vice-champion was bred from a Jos Cools cock and the famous 484 hen, an Olympic pigeon from Olteanu’s own loft.
Thus, the 2021 season confirmed Cosmin Olteanu’s status as one of Prahova’s most distinguished pigeon fanciers and a true benchmark of modern Romanian pigeon racing.
