They Are the Winners of the First Middle-Distance Race in the Botoșani Branch

The 2025 racing season is in full swing, and some of the branches have already reached the middle-distance races, races with a distance of more than 350 km. Last weekend, the Botoșani Branch organized its first race in this category, and the winners are Eusebiu-Ioan Atănăsoaie and Dan Găină.

For the first middle-distance race in the Botoșani Branch, the 222 participating fanciers basketed a total of 9,418 pigeons. The birds were released in the morning of May 10, at 06:36 AM, from the Polish town of Przemyśl, and the first pigeons returned to their lofts after about five hours of flight. Although the weather conditions were not ideal, the top-ranking pigeons still managed to achieve quite good flight speeds.

Eusebiu-Ioan Atănăsoaie wins 1st place in the pigeons ranking

The most coveted place in the rankings, first place in the pigeon results, was won by Eusebiu-Ioan Atănăsoaie. He is a member of the Botoșani Club and, although this is only his second racing season, he shows great promise for future performance. For Atănăsoaie, the Przemyśl race covered a distance of 375 km, and the pigeon that secured first place for him was the female RO-2022-0908615. She arrived at the loft at 11:13:07, with a flight speed of 1,353 m/min.

Dan Găină, winner of the Fanciers Ranking

The winner of first place in the fancier ranking was Dan Găină, a pigeon fancier from Hârlău, representing the “Flămânzi 1907” Club. He competed in the Przemyśl middle-distance stage with only 20 pigeons, one of the smallest entries in the race. Nevertheless, this did not stop him from achieving the best coefficient among all fanciers. The first two pigeons to arrive at his loft, two sister hens, were part of his racing team. They placed 7th and 8th in the release ranking, which gave Dan Găină a total of just 1.59 points in the fancier category, clearly securing him the top position.
