Mircea Culda is already a very important name for the racing pigeon sport in our country. It is part of the Columbophile Branch of Sălaj county and competes under the title "Culda Family". Over time he has accumulated an impressive record, consisting of county, provincial and national trophies, but in the 2023 season, his results have been downright extraordinary and truly enviable.
Mircea Culda mainly competes for the stages in the first and second distance categories, but also engages in the long-distance and marathon stages and has had important results in these latter categories as well. But, his best results, as well as the most numerous, were achieved in the Speed, Middle Distance and All Round categories. This is what happened in the 2023 season.
Ten national trophies for ten years of performance
Mircea Culda's first two national trophies, first place, were won in 2014, at the All Round and Long distance Yearlings categories. Ten years later, as an overtime arc of performance, the same Mircea Culda wins no less than ten national trophies, the distance categories remaining the same. Moreover, five of the ten national trophies were won on one-year terms and the other five on record. Thus, Mircea Culda is the national champion, season 2023, in the Middle distance Breeders category and national vice-champion in the Middle distance Old Birds, As Middle distance Yearlings and All Round Breeders categories. The fifth national trophy was won in the Ace Speed Old Birds category. On the other hand, in the records, things were even better than that, because Mircea Culda became national champion in three different categories: Speed, Middle distance and As Middle distance two years. In the Middle distance Breeders category, the same pigeon fancier is national vice-champion, and in the All Round Breeders (two years) category, Mircea Culda takes the 3rd national place.
Considering all these performances of his, but also the fact that they were won in the same categories, both at the one-year standard and at the track record, we can say without a mistake that Mircea Culda is also a candidate for the title of the best Romanian pigeon fancier of the one-day categories, at least in the last two seasons.
