Maricel Iordache, from Mehedinti, leading the start of the season

In recent years, Maricel Iordache has managed to rise into the pigeon racing elite of Mehedinți County. A few seasons ago, together with his racing partner Adrian Adăscăliței, he achieved exceptional results at the national level. Even after the “Iordache + Adăscăliței” partnership came to an end, Maricel Iordache continued to perform at a very high competitive level.

Since he began racing in 2008, not a single season has passed without Maricel Iordache adding various results to his record. Whether it's about winning races or earning trophies, he has always managed to rank among the best. The 2025 season started in the best possible way for him, winning the first two races held so far.

First Seven Places in the First Race

In 2025, Maricel Iordache is racing 70 pigeons on the Eastern route, and in the first race of the season (155 km), he recorded his first notable result. In a highly competitive field of 8,254 pigeons and 151 fanciers, the fancier from Vânjuleț managed to take the first 7 positions in the release. All seven pigeons arrived simultaneously, with an average speed of 1,368.31 m/min.

Second Race, Two More First Places

The next race was even more successful. This time, Maricel Iordache won "only" 1st place in the release. Other pigeons from his loft finished in 3rd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 9th, and 10th positions out of 8,409 pigeons. The pigeons that came in 3rd and 6th were part of his team entries, which also earned Maricel Iordache 1st place among the fanciers, out of 155 participants.
