After the several stages of speed-middle distance organized by the Neamt group, it was the turn of one of the most awaited contests in the flight plan, the cross-country contest with launch from the town of Losice, which has already become a tradition in recent seasons.
When we say the Neamt group, we mean one of the strongest groups for cross-country and marathon competitions that generated several national and even Olympic champions that made Romania's name resound on the international pigeon racing scene.
Already at the start of the Losice tradition, a number of 9,876 pigeons from the 283 breeders from Neamt and Iasi counties, who, based on a protocol, play side by side the long-distance stages, the boarding of the pigeons taking place at the 7 boarding centers.
The excitement of this competition started from the day of embarkation, and the two days from the moment of embarkation until the launch meant real days of inner turmoil and nights full of hope for every breeder hoping for the first positions of the ranking.
The dice were cast from the early hours of the morning, more precisely at 5:15 a.m. when the several thousand pigeons began to fly furiously towards their own breeding grounds. The rains on the route and the wind from the front - side represented the elements that determined the hardness of the competition, where only the best pigeons could win.
The first pigeons were spotted shortly after 2:00 p.m., and a few minutes after their arrival, based on the distance and flight speed, the winner of the competition stood out to be the well-known father and son, Festila Ioan & Catalin.
They started their activity since the 2000s and since then they proudly carry forward the name of the Neamt group in national and even international competitions. Moreover, they have become even more appreciated after their own company produces food and minerals of the best quality for pigeon fanciers in Romania.
In addition to their own pigeon-loving activity, they can be called the promoters of dove-loving in Romania, after they have supported internal competitions several times, their names being associated with numerous national competitions organized at a superlative level.
The protagonist of the competition, the pigeon on the 1st place is a male descended from a pigeon of Gerard Schalwijk combined with one of the best breeders of the breeder 900100-13.
Regarding the origin of the pigeon on the 2nd place, it is reproduced from a male from Bacalu Danut with an original female from the Jan v.d. Pash breeder purchased from the voiajor.net website. The latter demonstrating in a short time its qualities as a good breeder in the kennel of the Team Festila Ioan & Catalin.
The two pigeons, like the entire flight lot, are competed in widowhood from the beginning of the season until the end, from the 100 km stages to the 1200 km
And to make everything perfect, thanks to the flair and inspiration, but especially the quality of the entire competition lot, the tandem managed to win 1st place in the Grower Category.
Surely this feat at the first long-distance competition is just the beginning of a perfect season for the Team Festila Ioan & Catalin tandem, which with a lot of work, but especially with proper preparation using their own food for each period of the week, represents a plus in winning each competition.
