Together with his brother Răzvan, Victoraș Manole, a pigeon fancier from Movila, Dâmbovița County, has long been recognized for his outstanding results at county, provincial, and even national level. Starting with the 2025 young bird season, Manole has also joined forces with another well-known Romanian fancier, Florea Sorin, competing under a new partnership. This fresh collaboration has already paid off: Manole has opened the season with young birds in spectacular fashion, achieving a remarkable series of victories in the competitions held so far.
For the 2025 young bird campaign, pigeon fanciers in Dâmbovița agreed to organize their races along two flight routes, both heading south. Manole is currently competing on Route 1, under two different team names: “Manole Victoraș + Răzvan” and “Manole Victoraș + Andreea + TFS.” So far, three races have taken place on this route.
Dominating the Zimnicea 2 Race
The turning point came during the second race, Zimnicea 2 (122 km), where Manole’s pigeons delivered a commanding performance. Alongside his brother, he entered 89 birds, while in partnership with his wife and Florea Sorin he entered another 52. Out of the 23 fanciers in the competition, a total of 934 pigeons were released at 07:15.
By 08:57:48, the first arrivals reached Manole’s loft: within just 33 seconds, no fewer than 22 pigeons—those entered with his brother—had clocked in, securing the top 22 places in the race. Moments later, more of his birds followed. In total, pigeons entered under both team names captured the top 44 positions in the final standings. Not surprisingly, Manole’s two teams also secured the first two spots in the fanciers’ rankings.
Nearly Half the Standings at the Balgarene Race
The next competition took place on September 6, with a release from Balgarene (Bulgaria), covering 155 km. A total of 24 fanciers entered 937 pigeons, which were released at 07:30. After about two hours of flight, Manole’s birds again made their mark: 18 pigeons, entered together with his brother, arrived at 09:33 and were clocked within 40 seconds—taking the top 18 positions.
Four minutes later, another 20 pigeons arrived, including several entered with Florea Sorin, which placed from 22nd to 42nd. Arrivals continued steadily, and by the end of the race Manole had a staggering 85 pigeons in the prizes under both team names. Considering that only 187 pigeons made the result list, this meant that nearly half of the winners came from Manole’s lofts.
As expected, he also secured 1st place in the fanciers’ category, once again under the partnership with his brother.
Reflecting on this season, Manole explained:
“Starting this autumn, I am also competing in partnership with Mr. Florea Sorin. Around 80 youngsters bred in his lofts have been moved to mine and are now racing. They are flown naturally, without special methods, as we need them to remain strong for the future. We use Romanian feed from Pigo, and twice a week we try to take them out for a 40 km training flight. The young birds I race with my brother are managed under a system, but not the traditional darkness method. It is more of a semi-darkness system, which encourages them to molt slightly on the body.”
