With the latest changes to the National Columbophile Regulations, the All Round category has increased in difficulty. According to the current rules, 8 contests are required to fulfill it, i.e. two more than before. These contests must be of several distance categories. Thus, 2-4 races between 100 and 300 km, 2-4 races between 300 and 500 km and 2-4 races over 475 km are required.
However, 15 youngsters managed to meet the conditions of the norm. But, that's not all. Almost all of them come from the Columbophile Dolj Branch, except for the national champion and the 5th place finisher.
Liviu Plavițu is the national champion
The national champion of the All Round Youngsters category in the 2023 season is Liviu Plăvițu, from Mehedinți, one of the best Romanian fanciers in youngsters competition. He won the national title with the young flyer with the series RO-2023-2017283, which covered 2,772 km and accumulated a score of 284.80 penalty points. As expected, his performance was very consistent throughout the season, but his best stages were those with longer distances. For example, in the two 595 km centralized competitions, he took 18th and 26th places, out of 348 and 389 pigeons.
Gheorghe Dobrescu ranks 2nd, 3rd and 4th nationally
The next two places on the national podium are occupied by pigeon fancier Gheorghe Dobrescu from Dolj. More than that, he also ranks 4th nationally, but also 15th, being the pigeon fancier with the most regular youngsters in the All Round Youngsters category last season. The 2nd national place was obtained by the youngster with the series RO-2023-0162036, penalized with 307.61 points, and the 3rd national place was obtained by the youngster with the series RO-2023-162083, penalized with 346.96 points.
Beyond these, as I mentioned above, the situation in the national catalog of the All Round Youngsters category is similar to that of the Long distance youngsters category. And here, as there, the Dolj Columbophile Branch dominates authoritatively, and the province of Oltenia has been, for several years already, one of the strongest provinces when we discuss youngsters competition.
