103 norms in the Youngsters Long distance category in the 2023 season

It's already been a few good seasons since categories like Youngsters Long distance or Youngsters Extrem Long distance are no longer just a difficult dream to achieve. Youngsters competition has gained considerable momentum in Romania, so that more and more pigeon fanciers are organizing, in addition to the classic Speed and Middle Distance stages, flight plans in which Long Distance or Marathon stages appear, and the youngsters manage to meet their standards, not only to be engaged in these contests.

It is true that the situation described above is not very far-reaching. Not many counties put Long Distance or Marathon stages in the flight plan of the youngsters. However, we know that in this case, of the youngsters competition, there are also many counties that do not even organize competitions. In addition to this fact, there are also many fanciers who choose to protect their birds more in the year of birth and do not look kindly on the background stages. Finally, there is also the situation in which a single long-distance competition is organized, with the title "derby".

103 norms in the Youngsters Long distance category in the 2023 season

However, counties like Dolj or Caraș-Severin already have a real tradition in organizing long distance stages for youngsters. In the last two seasons, pigeon fanciers from these two counties represented the main competition for the national trophies up for grabs in the Youngsters Long distance category, but norms were also made in counties such as Botoșani, Gorj, Mehedinți or Suceava. But, in the 2023 season, the 103 norms from this category were realized only in Dolj, Caraș-Severin, Mehedinți and Gorj counties. The national podium is completely occupied by pigeon fanciers from Dolj. Thus, David Giani Mihaiță won the 1st national place, with 17.11 penalty points. The Calafeteanu Mihai & Avramiuc Cristian tandem is in second place, with 50.56 points. The two are followed by Voicu Ionuț, with 55.46 points. The town where the three stages were organized is Antonești, in the Republic of Moldova, which offered pigeon fans from Dolj distances between 520 and 580 km.

It is also interesting to observe what is the share of norms implemented in the mentioned counties. And in this chapter, Dolj conty leads the way, with 73 norms out of a total of 103. In Caraș-Severin, 22 norms were achieved, and the remaining 8 norms are shared between Mehedinți (5) and Gorj (3).
